Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi August.

Hi Naomi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
This is a broad question…. As far as making music… I couldn’t tell you when I started but my journey into sync and publishing began around 2014.

I heard a commercial with a song that sounded slightly out of place, genre-wise. I researched the commercial and found “Brand X” (now The Made Series)

Sent out a tweet. Two weeks later I was signing my soul away…. lol

Fast forward to present time, I am an independent artist. I just released a new ep and short film.

I plan on living the rest of my life as a creator.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road but one I’ve been smoothing along the way.

I think the main challenge faced when in pursuit of creative endeavors is finding your voice.. your style.. your flow.

Most important – learning to be patient with myself.

Some of my struggles has honestly just been finding the confidence to let it all out there and be vulnerable. As I’ve progressed along the way in my life journey, it’s true the older you get- the less you care what others think. I will always care of course, but not enough to let it govern who I am and who I am becoming.

But I get it now.. to express yourself is to be vulnerable which is probably how we ultimately connect to each other. I still struggle with this daily but… I’m trying

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most known to the public as a singer/writer. I like to think I’m the singer you already heard but didn’t know.

My music to date has been synced globally for tv, film, and commercials.

I was watching the weather channel one time in a Mississippi motel 6 and heard a song of mine while the temperature was being displayed. It was then I knew… I made it haha.

As far as accomplishments – I am most proud with this new project we just put out. It’s an installment of what will be five albums, starting with “inter alia”.

I’m not sure what sets me apart. I feel like that question lends itself to competing/comparison and I am definitely in my own lane. I just want to continue living in peace, make stacks, and bless others while I still have the chance. I love collaborating and this year, my goal is to help others with their own projects as well.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned so far is… “until you do – it won’t”

Having the intention to do something is not enough. You have to just kinda aimlessly go but have a sense of direction if that makes sense.

Create now, analyze later has been my mantra. For me, it means to immerse yourself into your work (process) and worry about the grandness of it later – because that is always out of your control.

I try to not preach because everyone’s story is so different.

I understand that success is not destination arrived as it is more so the vehicle used in your journey. All of our lives end up in the same place.. we are unfortunately not immortal.

It’s the inbetween that makes it all more interesting.
